Throughout the Wimbledon MFA course I have experimented with different making techniques, and that supports me to explore more ways to express different ideas. I've Joined workshops of wood, metal digital and print. I gained a lot of professional technique skills from that.

The video War and Peace is made as a collaborative work, MFA students had a one-day workshop with the painter and video artist, Kimathi Donkor. We were separated into small groups of six or seven people, and each person in the group was given a role. We were asked to make a short video exploring our understanding of the theme of ‘War and Peace’. I took the role of photographer, and my duty was took photographs of the different maps we chose together and cut into pieces. It was a fresh idea for me to make a one-day film, and it was a great chance to experience how to make videos.  This workshop helped me learn more about creating videos, include the process and technique skills .

Technical Skills

I tried printmaking through the workshop, it was also a new attempt for me to do printmaking, I found comparing with drawing, printmaking is a very different perspective to see and make graphics, and that is  quite interesting. Regarding to the ideal results, the process of print making needs to be very careful and step by step, or it will influence the effect. I studied more about the techniques of printmaking in the workshop.

During the course I have also attempted  wood workshops a lot to make frames and structures. Metal and digital workshop as well. That really helps me of expanding different ways to express.
