MFA students from Wimbledon College of Art (WCA) attended Art Parlour with Frances Scott and Joyce Cronin at the 14th of February 2017. Focusing on the role of exchange and collaboration between artists and practitioners, including the important role on Between artists and curators / producers, we visited Matt's Gallery and London South Gallery on that day, discussed with the curators of Matt's gallery, and also talked with Frances Scott and Joyce Cronin about the cooperation, development and life of artists after the course.

Ian McKeever's exhibition -- Against Architecture was shown at Matt's Gallery. The works in the exhibition combined with paintings and photographs, and the exhibition site was curated with the responded relevant structure. I felt quite like these ideas, my work also researches around the theme of space and architecture, this exhibition is very enlightening to me. Director of Matt's Gallery Robin Klassnik gave a talk about the exhibition and his experience of working together with the artist. After that we visited London South Gallery to see Amie Siegel's video exhibition, and then we had a talk in the central studio in the gallery.

How to develop art works and life career is probably the problem that all the artists have been concerned about, such as balancing art and life, building a network of connections to keep themselves in a world where they want to be, and so on. This time, Art Parlour talked about the importance of collaboration. From the perspective of my personal experience, when I was in China, there have not too many chances for me to collaborate with other artists, however in WCA I have got many chances to do, including curation and collaborate works, and felt gained a lot.

After this course, I plan to back to China, due to the current art environment in China, to find a job to maintain life, at the same time continuing to do art is a more difficult thing. Fortunately, I have lived and study art in Beijing for many years, and have achieved an undergraduate degree in 2014. During the education, I have a lot of friends who are artists, and that could be regarded as a network. Most of them have a studio. I would like to find a place where I can continue to work and then be a part of the network, and I think it will brings more benefits and opportunities. I also felt very precious of the relationship established in London, often share ideas and information, often keep in touch will do a great help to the artist's development.
